"The internal mechanisms have been improved for making coffee using Dolce Gusto capsules."
Karim Beerahee
This is a larger version of the original Krups Fontana (LINK) which won the 2011 Red Dot design award. There’s little of what made the original Fontana such a great buy in the re-vamped KP 3010 model.
Whereas the original was built to be slender and power efficient, the KP 3010 requires a whopping 1500w, three times as much as the first Krups Fontana. You’ll also find this machine is noticeably larger, measuring nearly half a meter tall and about a foot in diameter. That said, in terms of coffee machine footprints, it is still more compact than your average machine.
The internal mechanisms have been improved for making coffee using Dolce Gusto capsules. The KP 3010 is far quieter, but not noticeably quicker; the use of ThermoBlock technology does assure you a piping hot coffee though.
Fontana machines have a unique look to them almost like a bar tap, and the mechanism for making coffee is just simple insertion of the Dolce Gusto capsule and the press of a button. The price difference between this coffee machine and its predecessor isn’t particularly great, which is a pity since the only major difference is a whole extra 0.1L capacity in its water tank – thanks Krups!
Fontana models are wholly dependable, and they look great too. The Krups KP 3010 is available in black, red and white. This is a very basic coffee machine, which isn’t a bad thing, but it does lack features which should be included in this price range, like an aeroccino or cup warmer.
