Rise and shine with the Gaggia Espresso Pure RI8154/60 – its super-shiny exterior ties in with the punchy espresso drinks it produces to make for a great help getting going in the morning.
As the name suggests, this coffee machine is mainly one for purists, i.e. people who take their espresso seriously and scoff at those bucket-sized third wave calorie bombs people suck through a straw. It offers users the choice between ground coffee and ESE (Easy Serve Espresso) coffee pods, and comes with a milk frother as well as a handy anti-drip function to prevent annoying overspills. The Pure RI8154/60 can produce either one or two cups at a time.
There are only four buttons – for the coffee making process, an on/off button, a hot water function and a button to activate the milk frother. As a result, the machine’s look is very minimalistic and uncomplicated.
The Gaggia Espresso Pure RI8154/60’s stainless steel parts look fantastic, as does the brushed metal finish elsewhere. The metallic tone might not be to everyone’s taste (some prefer a bit more warmth and colour in their kitchen), but, like we said, espresso purists will probably be all over this.
With the Gaggia Espresso Pure RI8154/60, Gaggia have come up with a decently priced espresso specialist machine. Its looks are impeccable if you’re into the high-end design stuff, although if you like your coffee machines a bit more colourful you may want to look elsewhere. The coffee is reliably tasty and the machine easy enough to clean - what’s not to like?
