The Bosch Tassimo multi-beverage maker is a versatile if slightly uninspired-looking coffee machine that aims to be all things to all people rather than just a slick fetish object for moustache-twirling espresso addicts.
The Tassimo multi-beverage machine makes 12 different kinds of coffee, including regular filter coffee and more sophisticated third-wave options such as a Latte Macchiato, which, compared to more specialised coffee machines, is a very welcome feature. Users can control coffee strength with a dedicated button, as well as adjust the water quantity with another control button.
One advantage of this coffee machine is its slim dimensions – it is inconspicuous and will fit into any kitchen. The Bosch Tassimo multi-beverage maker comes in silver, black and red, and it’s fair to say that none of these colours are especially eye-catching. The look is definitely more ‘budget’ than that of coffee machines by manufacturers such as Lavazza or Gaggia, but that need not be a bad thing.
The coffee pods that are used with the Tassimo can be bought in most supermarkets (as well as from the Tassimo website) but are definitely on the pricey side.
We’re not too impressed with the Bosch Tassimo multi-beverage maker’s exterior, but with such a wide choice of coffee, tea and hot chocolate drinks, it’s easy to see why this coffee machine is so popular. Be aware that whatever you might save on the coffee machine’s price, you’re likely to spend on the not-very-affordable coffee pods.
